Hurricane Romania with galares and triara in Ukraine!

by

Impressive Romania in its premiere for the 5th group of Euro 2024, it was imposed by state (3-0) of Ukrainian and made a jump to qualifying for the knockouts from the first matchday!

Eduard Iordanescu’s team showed themselves extremely thirsty, efficient and with an impeccable defensive function in the Munich match, managing to get an impressive victory thanks to the goals of Stanciou (29′), Rashvan Marin (53′) and Dragus (57′), leaving no room for reaction to Sergei Rembrov’s team, which was “chatty”, with possession but without substance.

This was Romania’s first victory in the final stage of the Euro since the distant 2000, when they had imposed themselves on England, while today was only their second victory in their 17 games in the European Championship and next matchday (22/6) they will face the Belgium! On the other hand, Ukraine entered the match as the favorite but disappointed, and will now look for a reaction against Slovakia.

The match

Balanced at the beginning of the match, with Ukraine… taking the reins first, having possession of the ball but without being able to break the properly organized defense of the Romanians. In the 7th Dobbik lay nicely on Chigankovbut he dribbled over Burca, with Romania responding immediately and Lunin comfortably blocking a long-range shot from Coman.

Ukraine continued to have meaningless supremacy, but without being able to effectively threaten Nice. In the 22nd Dobbik shot from the edge of the area, very high out, while the Romanians were the ones who opened the scoring in the 29th minute, when after a wrong turn by Matvienko in Lunin and poor pass by the Real Madrid goalkeeper, Man stole and laid on Stanciouwho made a great move, sending the ball into the right “window” of the home of the Ukrainians, for 1-0!

Very good pace of the match thereafter, with Ukraine trying to find its footing, without much success. In the 36th Mudrik made the turn from the left and o Dragushin he almost scored an own goal with a header trying to clear the ball, while in the 38th minute Chigankov and Mudrik failed to find a shot in good conditions. Romania “touched” the second goal in the 39th minute, when o Stanciou he tried to score from a corner, sending the ball onto Lunin’s crossbar in the last good phase of the first half.

Ukraine came back from the dressing room wanting to press very hard, with Sudakov and Mudrik unable to find the target with their shots in the 50′ and 52′. But they did not succeed in this, he did Rashvan Marinwho saw the ball come to him after a cut by Saparenko, sending the ball low into Lunin’s right corner with a long-range volley and making it 2-0!

Bewildered and shocked, Ukraine saw their opponents threaten their goal again in the 57th minute, when initially Stanciou he shot over a defender’s body and later in the phase, Lunin saved a corner kick from Racios with overpowering effort from a lateral position. In fact, in the development of the phase, the corner was executed with a pass and Man he entered the box with great energy, serving up a back-and-forth assist to Draguswho had no trouble making it 3-0 from close range!

Hot on the heels of a great win, the Romanians threatened again in the 68th minute, with Stanciu taking a direct free-kick from a wide angle, sending the ball into the outside of the net, while in the 73rd minute, Ukraine tried to find a goal of hope, but o Dragushin cut with an impressive tackle before Dobbik, his turn Yarmolenko.

Procedural nature in the final minutes, with Ukraine looking for the goal of honor, but not managing to find the way to the net. In the 77th Sudakov threatened Nitsa but the Romanian keeper blocked a double effort, in the 80th minute Mudic committed a free-kick, with Nitsa saving his defender Burca’s back header, while in the 84th minute Mudrik he entered the box and found himself in an advantageous position, but put it high. In the 90’+2′ Jeremchuk perfectly chipped the ball over the opponent’s goalkeeper, but the ball went wide after first hitting the crossbar, and so Romania celebrated the great victory with 3-0making a very early jump to qualify for the knockouts.

MVP: The title of most valuable goes to the 31-year-old Nicolae Stantsiou. Wearing the captain’s armband, he was Romania’s driving force and was the main spokesman for their attacks. He paved the way for his side’s big win with his superb goal in the 29th minute, almost scoring with a direct corner shortly after. The great protagonist of the match, rightly deified when a change was made, shortly before the finale.
