Strong interest of Panathinaikos for Lorenzo Brown-Tosa Maccabi is asking for

by

THE Panathinaikos has circled the name of Lorenzo Braun to further strengthen his perimeter by replacing Luka Vildosa. The completion of the Israeli championship paves the way for the 34-year-old guard, who in his statements after winning the title announced his departure from Maccabi although it is committed until 2026.

The American ace, who will go to Spain to participate, along with Juancho Hernangometin preparation for the Pre-Olympic Tournament to be held in Valencia (July 2-7), has already informed Maccabi and the club’s management will respect his decision, based on his concern about the war situation in Israel and the… of the team, which in the new season will be forced to play its games for the Euroleague outside of Tel Aviv.

According to Israeli media, Maccabi is not going to stand in the way of Brown, but they won’t let him go and… well. As mentioned, the people’s group is expected to claim a buy out that can reach 1 million euros. Information indicates that in the end it may be smaller, depending on the willingness of the various suitors for compensation.

As for Brown, this year he was Maccabi’s highest paid player, with annual earnings $1.6 million (Wade Baldwin had $1.5 million) and will look for at least an equal contract on the market.

Panathinaikos is not “playing” alone in the market for Brown, however. There is also interest from Fenerbahce, who is a favorite for Wade Baldwin as well (giving him $5.5 million over two years), while even though Real backed out of signing him (while he looked like a big favorite), it’s not unlikely that other suitors will emerge. Anyway the European champions currently seem to have the lead to sign Brownwhich if it comes will be one of the two or three additions that will be made this summer.

The next main need is that of the center, which is most likely to be closed late. His case Serge Ibaka he does not “play” for Panathinaikos, which is considering other solutions with its eyes on the NBA. And maybe that’s why more patience is needed to close the player who will flank Matias Lessor in “5”.
