The Orestiada team announced Kotsnev

Denis Kotsnev will compete in the Orestiada Championship next season. The Akrites announced the signing of the 29-year-old Russian winger on a one-year deal, making him the fourth foreigner on the roster for 2024-25.

Kotchnev in the completed season was playing for Katar SC.

In detail, the announcement:

“The management of TAA Athlos Orestiada announces the start of cooperation with the Russian athlete, Denis Kotsnev, for the men’s Volley League season 2024-25.

Born on March 7, 1995 in Ivanovo, a city near Moscow, Denis Kochnev is 2.00m tall and plays as a winger. His first club was Dinamo Yadar in Kaliningrad in 2011, however he spent most of his career with the “colors” of the youth divisions of Dynamo Moscow, known as Dynamo Olib. He moved to the Moscow team in 2012 and stayed until 2017, winning two Russian championships in the Junior League (2013, 2017).

Also, the 29-year-old ace played in the Russian Neftyanik Orenburg, Yaroslavich Yaroslavl and Yugra Samotlor.

In the last season he competed in the Qatar League, where as an athlete of Qatar SC he took third place in the league and cup. In the Arab Club Championship he was a finalist with his team, while he was named the best winger of the competition.

The new acquisition of our team was “anointed” in 2014 international, where in the qualifiers of the CEV U19/U20 European Championship in Latvia, it took the first place for Russia, which in the final phase of the competition was later crowned European champion.

Kotsnev, who nails at 3.56m and blocks at 338m, in his first official statements after his agreement with the administration, told athlosorestiadas.gr the following: “I am very happy to compete in the Greek championship. For me, this is a new challenge and it is always interesting. My expectations are high and my goals are always high. I want to do my best this year for Athlos Orestiadas and I am looking forward to getting to know the people and the world of the team. Rest assured that I will try to satisfy them with my game.”
