Finally, Nikos Deligiannis from the Apollon Smyrnis bench. The “light brigade” announced the termination of its cooperation with the Greek coach and veteran international goalkeeper after four years of success, culminating in the conquest of the men’s polo Challenger Cup in 2023 and with the managers of the Athenian team thanking him for his offer from November 2020 to date.
In detail, the announcement:
“The administration of the water polo department of GS Apollon Smyrna announces the end of its collaboration with Nikos Deligiannis, whom it thanks for his very important contribution to our team.
After four very beautiful years of companionship, the paths of the amphibious ‘light brigade’ and the 48-year-old coach are parting ways.
Nikos Deligiannis took over the technical leadership of Apollon Smyrna in November 2020, leading the “blue and white” to many awards inside and outside the Greek walls, with the top, of course, winning the LEN Challenger Cup in April 2023! A great success that will remain etched in golden and indelible letters in the history of our club, as well as in the training path of the same.
GS Apollon Smyrnis thanks Nikos Deligiannis again for his significant contribution to the water polo department of the club, which in the season that ended reached its “maiden” appearance in the final of the Greek Cup and wishes him good success in the continuation of his career.
Nikos, we deeply appreciate your great contribution to Apollo Smyrnis and thank you very much for the beautiful years of our joint journey. See you again”…
