Sloukas: “We are waiting to see what exactly I have – I really want a medal with the National Team”

THE Kostas Sloukas stated that the National team he is above clubs and has shown himself determined to help her, although he is still unsure due to his injury. Speaking to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, he also referred to the presence of Vassilis Spanoulis and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the “official sweetheart”.

In detail, the interview of Kostas Sloukas with the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency (APE-MPE):

– Kostas, you are the face of the last days. A very successful year for you continues with your participation in the men’s national team. Will qualifying for the Olympic Games be the icing on the cake of this extraordinary year?

“I don’t look at what I did throughout the year. It has indeed been a successful year for me and my team, but at the moment we are for the national team here. The national team is above all, from all situations. The arrival of Vassilis (s.s. Spanoulis) has brought a different atmosphere to the team and I want to believe that we will achieve something good that has been missing from our national team for so many years”.

– You are suffering from a bruise. There were doubts about whether you would manage to be here. But, have you come and are you ready to offer your services?

“I am not ready. We are waiting for the results to come out to see what exactly I have. My will is too great. I also want to help the effort of the national team. As you know, I don’t have a medal with the national team and it is something that is missing from my record and I will give everything to help the national team’s effort as well.”

– You already talked about the… air brought by Vassilis Spanoulis as a Federal coach. What does it really mean to you that Giannis Antetokounmpo competes with you in the Pre-Olympic Tournament?

“He is a very great athlete. It is a very big capital not only for Greece, but in general for world basketball. The fact that he is here in the national team, even though he went through a difficult and strange injury and wants to help the national effort, motivates all of us and shows how much he wants it too, but the whole team in general to succeed something good”.

– It’s early, but… Slovenia or Croatia. Greece are favorites for first place in their own group. It is most likely that one of these two teams will face each other in the Pre-Olympic final on July 7. Is there a preference?

“For me this is too far. We are looking at the first game of the tournament.”
