Temporarily withdrawn from active swimming the aspayal

Finally for this time the swimming for George Aspougalis. The Greek champion announced this decision on his Instagram account, leaving the sport he loves after 19 years of continuous presence in it to deal with other priorities in his life.

In detail, the post of Aspougalis: “After 19 years in the pool, training, drowning, crying, laughter, excessive fatigue, sweating, making friends who will last forever, I decided that it was time to get away from the pools for the time being. Things have changed and some more important issues need my attention right now.

I am so blessed for those years in this sport that made me the person I am now. The durability and hard work that made me get. This sport has given me the opportunity to see so many countries, cultures and explore the world. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to study in the US for a while and make my dreams come true! I am so blessed for all the people who have been with me all these years at every step of my way and in every fall and I really thank them from the depths of my heart that stood by me and did everything strong.

A big ‘thank you’ to my family who was always here and struggled to make the dream come true. In the swimming section of Hercules, Miltos Halkias, Tassos Saphazidis, who have believed in me since 2017 and welcomed me to this big family since then. A huge thank you to @nutrilab.gr and @arenagreece with @panagiotesretzios who helped me with diet and swimming equipment. Without all of you it would not be possible to do anything from what I have done so far.

It has been an incredible route these 19 years. A member of the National Team from 2017, a bronze medal in the 50 meters front at the European Youth Championship 2019, fifth place at the World Youth Championship 2019, tenth in Europe in 2022, 14th in the world last year in Doha and Thursday at 400 meters of mixed swimming and Olympic teams and Olympic teams Championships. I am really happy to make the difference and developed the front in Greece. I wish everyone the best in the national team in the coming years and I feel really proud to represent Greece next to you. Continue to push for the Los Angeles Olympics.

But, this is not goodbye. I will still be close to the pools through @asphysio, __ helping all those who need help with recovery, injury or even someone to talk. For anything you need, just send me a message and I’ll be there!

Goodbye swimming, for now! I love you!”.
