Sekulic: “Greece has a great team, they are the favorites – But we also have our chances”

The qualification to the semi-finals of the SEF Pre-Olympic Tournament was secured by Sloveniawhich in a “life and death” game, prevailed with an impressive 104-78 victory over New Zealand, setting up a date with Greece in the knockout phase of the competition.

“It was a life or death game for us. But we performed well in the game, I enjoyed the game and I’m proud to coach these guys. We were playing with our backs against the wall and our reaction was excellent. Well done to all the guys for the effort. The win counts, we really wanted it and now we’re moving on to the semi-finals.

Nikolic was injured, Luka doesn’t have a problem, he’s just tired. But he also gives his heart for the team, not just him, the whole team. I hope there won’t be a fight on Saturday, but a basketball game (laughs). All teams have the same goal. Greece is the favourite, but we go into this game knowing that we have hopes of victory. Being a favorite doesn’t mean anything. I can’t wait for this game. It will not be the first time that Doncic and Giannis will face each other. Greece has a great team, but we also have chances.”
