Panathinaikos completed its preparation on Austrian soil knowing the defeat (1-0) by Eintracht Braunschweig in its last friendly.
After the completion of the match, the coach of the “clover”, Diego Alonsoadmitted that his team did not play well, a fact which he attributed to the roster’s absences, due to injuries and Euros, however he made it clear that Panathinaikos will be ready for their qualifiers Europa League.
However, he expressed his satisfaction with the way his players worked during his stay in Austria in preparation for the new season.
His statements in detail:
“We didn’t play well. We fought but we weren’t as aggressive as we would have liked. We have the next few weeks to work on. We were missing 8-9 players and when they come back we will improve. From there I am very satisfied with the work we did in the preparation. The players worked very hard.
These games are part of the road. We gave a chance to players who usually don’t play and I believe we will see positive things in the future. We are working to be ready for the qualifiers. We had nine players out. The players in the Euro, who were left out here, Ioannidis. We will improve with them and be better.”
