Giorgi Gluchkov on Vezenkov: “He will regret it if he returns to Europe”

by

THE Sasha Vezenkov has been monopolizing the news lately, since he is said to have agreed with Olympiakos, although his release from the Raptors has not yet taken place and is complicated.

O. was invited to speak for his compatriot Giorgi Glutskovthe first player from Bulgaria but also from the Eastern Bloc in general to play in NBAwho is now the Minister of Sports of his country.

In the context of a press conference, he spoke about the country’s greatest basketball player, Mr Vezenkovand stated that if he returns to Europe and does not try his luck in the NBA again, he will regret it.

It is worth noting that the now 64-year-old Gluchkov played in the league in the 1985-86 season, with the jersey of Phoenix Suns. Along with Vezenkov, they are the only Bulgarians who have competed there, apart from him Cedric Simmons who simply had the citizenship.

In detail what he said:

“I think I’m the only one who understands him. He was in a very difficult situation, but to fight for his position he had to be given a real chance. The coach had to pass 20 games to leave him in one for more than 20 minutes. I am sure that if he had the chance, he would have done the right things.

But ultimately he took few minutes and couldn’t show what he can do, and he wasn’t happy with his presence in the NBA. I don’t know if his decision is final, but I suggest something else. The NBA is another planet. I believe that if he returns to Greece, he will regret it when the years pass because he will not have taken advantage of the opportunity”.
