A video featuring their protagonists has been making the rounds on the internet for a few hours now Dario Saric and Ivica Zubac in which the two Croatian players appear to have been involved in a fight in a well-known beach night club after the match between Croatia and Greece in the SEF for the final of the Pre-Olympic tournament.
The Croatian basketball federation took a position on the matter, giving its explanations:
“In response to numerous questions from the media regarding photos circulating on social networks, the Croatian Basketball Association responds as follows:
After the final match of the Olympic qualifying tournament in Greece and a joint dinner, the coach thanked the players for their contribution and then released them, considering that there was no joint return to Zagreb, but to various destinations according to the players’ needs .
After several weeks of hard preparations and matches, the players decided to have a farewell gathering before returning to their homes or clubs.
While we were in one of the clubs in Athens, some of our players were attacked first verbally and then physically, which of course made them defend themselves.
It was a short-lived incident that was interrupted by the intervention of the cooler ones.”
