Sofia Zagli became an AEK footballer on Wednesday. The Union announced the acquisition of the 18-year-old international midfielder for next year.
Zagli is international with the K19, while last season she competed in Doxa Pigadakion of Zakynthos.
In detail, the announcement:
“AEK is pleased to announce the start of its collaboration with Sofia Zagli. The 18-year-old (24/09/2006) international midfielder joins the club’s women’s football team.
Sofia Zagli is one of the most up-and-coming athletes. He started playing football at the famous academy of Tasos Ferekidis in Pyrgos. In 2020, at the age of 14, she switched to Niki Traganou, thus competing in the demanding championship of the Second National Team, while with her performances she won her first call-up to the Girls’ National Team.
This was followed by her transfer to Doxa Pigadakion from Zakynthos which had just been promoted to the A’ National Division (2022-23), thus receiving the ‘baptism of fire’ in the top division.
He is a key member of the U19 National Team.
After the agreement was made official, Sofia Zagli said to aek.gr: “I am very happy to be in one of the top teams in Greece. I came to AEK with the aim of helping the team achieve its goals. Finally, I would like to thank the administration and the coach for the trust they have shown in me.”
