Krejcikova made an impressive start to the grand final, making her first break with “good evening” and another for a 4-1 lead, eventually reaching the final comfortably 6-2 and at 1-0 in sets.
Paolini then fought back, found a rhythm and led 3-0, and 5-2, before leveling with a break in 6-2with the winner being decided in the third and final set.
There, Paolini opened with a love game and Krejcikova equalized by replying “with the same coin” and the two finalists went hand in hand in the score until 3-3 when the Czech broke, which effectively gave her the momentum which he needed, to reach the 6-4 and win the coveted title!
A dream realized?
