Spartak Moscow on UEFA-FIFA decision: “Sports should build bridges, not burn them”

THE Spartak Moscow was to give two European games with Leipzig on 10 and 17 March respectively, however the situation with the Russian invasion in Ukraine brought the qualification of the Germans without a fight, by its decision UEFA.

However in the afternoon Monday (28/2) came the decision of FIFA and UEFA, which expelled all Russian teams from all competitions.

Immediately the Spartak Moscow issued a statement, with the Russians stating that the decision they made is far from sports.

The announcement of Spartak Moscow in detail:

“The decision of FIFA and UEFA, although expected, upset us. Unfortunately, the efforts of our team in this course of the Europa League, are deleted for reasons as far away from sports as possible.

Spartak has millions of fans not only in Russia but all over the world. Successes and failures are what bring us in contact with dozens of people from different countries, even in the most difficult times the sport must build bridges not burn them.

Another decision was made, with which they do not agree, but we are forced to obey it.

Spartak will focus on the performance of the Russian championship and the national cup. “We hope for the speedy achievement of peace, which is necessary for all.”
