Athens Kallithea’s announcement:
“Athens Kallithea FC present their home fixtures for the 24/25 season, which they will compete against later this month, returning to the top flight of Greek football for the first time in 18 years.
AKFC’s 24/25 home kits, available in long and short-sleeve versions, are in a classic collared style, with a distinctive, elegant palette of blue hues and subtle embossed lines that lend a soft texture, designed in collaboration with , for the third consecutive year, with the Munich-based studio Bureau Borsche.
The displays also bear the EMST logo of the National Museum of Contemporary Art of Athens, marking the second year of this original partnership between a professional football club and an institution for art and culture.
At the heart of Athens Kallithea’s campaign is a nostalgic 1960s-inspired short film in 16mm, shot in Spetses and set to the 1965 song “Keep Me Close” written by Mimis Plessas and performed by Jenny Vanou.
The script of the short film is signed by Ted Filippakos, administrative leader of Athens Kallithea, who selected the talented up-and-coming Athenians Thodoris Selekos as director and Evan Maragoudakis as director of photography. In a connection with earlier works by Filippakos, the short film stars Theopisti Pourliotopoulou and Francesco Ruggiero who had also appeared in several campaigns of Venezia FC for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
“As our association was founded in 1966, we often refer to the 1960s which happens to be a golden age of Greek cinema, so we wanted to draw inspiration from that,” says Filippakos. “In this case, I was inspired by Jenny Vanou’s song ‘Keep Me Close’, as it has an atmosphere that I wanted to explore and reinterpret. Nostalgia permeates my work as a basic motif, from Venezia FC to Athens Kallithea FC.”
The campaign was photographed by Filippakos during the filming in Spetses.
Home appearances for the 24/25 season are available exclusively at shop.akfc66.gr. From September, the looks will also be available at the EMST store».
