The attempt to become Peania the new “home” of the national team was started by Makis Gagatsis.

“Mr. Makis Gagatsis met with the former president of Panathinaikos and owner of the sports center of Paiana, Giorgos Vardinogiannis, regarding the prospect of purchasing the facilities from the Federation.
As Mr. Gagatsis had announced on the day of Mr. Jovanovic’s official presentation, finding a training center for the National Teams is one of his priorities and in this context all options will be considered.
The sports center of Paiana, covering an area of ​​70 acres, has pitches, building facilities and hostels and certainly meets the specifications, so that a definitive solution to the issue of the “home” of the National Teams is given.
Discussions will continue and all recommendations will be examined for the installation of the representative complexes in the sports center of Paiana, which Mr. Vardinogiannis made available anyway and regardless of the final outcome of the contacts in order to meet the current preparation needs of the National Teams.
It is recalled that, as announced by Mr. Gagatsis, the National Men’s National Team will hold all its training sessions for the matches in the UEFA Nations League (from September to November) at the Atromitos sports center.”
