Super move with Devin Canady for Panionios!

The completion of an excellent transfer for his region in view of the new competitive season in the great salons of Greek basketball was completed by Panionios.

On Saturday morning (10/08), the Blue Reds announced the acquisition of the American guard, Devin Canady, who in recent years belonged to the Orlando Magic.

The 28-year-old explosive guard counts 13 games at the NBA level with 6.5 points and almost one assist on average, while, in G-League he has recorded many participations with several affiliate teams and in fact with very good numbers.

“KAE PANIONIOS is pleased to announce the reaching of an agreement with the American athlete, Devin Cannady.

Devin Cannady was born on May 21, 1996, is 1.88 meters tall and plays guard. He graduated from the prestigious Princeton College where he received his bachelor’s degree in sociology.

As a freshman he averaged 11.6 points, 2.5 rebounds on 41% 3-point shooting.

As a sophomore he averaged 13.4 points- 3.6 rebounds- 1.8 assists on 44% 3-pointers.

In his third year, he averaged 16.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 39% on 3-pointers, and was in the second best five in the Ivy.

He finished his NCAA career in the 2018-2019 season with 18.2 points- 5.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists and also averaged 3.1 three-pointers with a percentage of 36%! He is still the 5th all-time leading scorer in Princeton history.

From there, his career was mainly in the G League (Long Island Nets, Lakeland Magic, South Bay Lakers and Birmingham Squadron where he was named champion and MVP of the finals in 2021.

In his career, he has a total of 13 games in the NBA with the Orlando Magic where he had 4.3 points in 9.3 minutes in the 2020-2021 season (and in 8 games) and 10 points- 2 assists- 1.2 rebounds and 40.5 % on 3-pointers in 29 minutes of participation in the 2021-2022 season with the same team.

Then he had great performances with 10 points on 3/4 3-pointers against the Cavaliers (5/4/2022), 12 points on 4/11 3-pointers against the Hornets (7/4/2022) and 15 points on 4/9 3-pointers against the Heat (10/4/2022). On 4/22/2021 with 17 points on 3/5 3-pointers against the Pelicans he set his NBA scoring record

In the G League he had 14.4 points- 3.9 rebounds- 2.6 assists (2019-2020 with Long Island Nets), 11.7 points- 2.8 rebounds- 2.7 assists and 40% on 3-pointers (2020- 2021 with Lakeland Magic), 15.8 points – 2.9 rebounds – 2.1 assists on 47% 3-point shooting and 3.7 field goals per game (2021-2022 with Lakeland Magic), 11.5 points – 2.7 rebounds – 2.1 assists (2022-2023 with South Bay Lakers) and 9 points – 3 rebounds – 2 assists (2023-2024 with Birmingham Squadron)

His record for points is 33 with the Long Island Nets in the G League. His record for 3-pointers in a game is 8 also in the G League as a Lakeland Magic player while the exact same number (i.e. 8) is also his career record for assists with the same team. His rebound record is 12 since playing at Princeton.

He is married to WNBA athlete, Katie Lou Samuelson (Chicago Sky, Dallas Wings, Seattle Storm, Los Angeles Sparks and this year Indiana Fever) who was NCAA champion in 2016 with Connecticut while in 2021 she was champion of Spain, MVP of the finals and finalist in the Euroleague with Avenida.

In fact, on the day of Devin’s signing at PANIONIO, they also celebrated their daughter’s first birthday.
