He suffered a heavy defeat on Friday night (16/08) Children’s national team in the Eurobasket U16 semifinals, as, despite being ahead by double digits until the middle of the fourth period, they were nevertheless defeated by 77-71 from Spain.

After the end of the match, Dimitris Stamoulos stressed that everyone is sad in the team, however, no one should give up and claim tomorrow afternoon (17/08, 18:30) the bronze medal in the short final.

His statements in detail:

For the game against Spain: “The effort was made and it counts, but unfortunately we didn’t succeed until the end, while we showed that we can and that we are better. However, some details, some mistakes at the end deprived us of the victory. We are sad, but we should not give up.”

For the “mini final”: “We’re not giving up, that’s the only thing for sure. We will fight like we always do and we will go for the medal, we will go for third place. Whatever team we face, we know it will be difficult, but I believe we are also a good team and we can win.”

For the overall picture of the National Children’s National Team in the event: “For sure we are happy with the way we played, unfortunately now some mistakes were made, we lost some rebounds, some other details that didn’t “come out” for us and we lost the chance to play in the final. But overall I think the image of the team was very good and we are satisfied with that.”
