3 months imprisonment imposed the Autonomous Single-Member Misdemeanor Court on two PAOK fans who threw bottles at police officers during the match with Shamrock Rovers outside the Toumba stadium.
As it states grtimes.grit is about a 29-year-old and a 20-year-old who were identified and arrested by police officers of the Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate.
The court converted their sentences into redeemable ones, to 10 euros per daywhile finding them guilty with the mitigating circumstances of the reduced imputation due to drug addiction and post-adolescencerespectively.
As additional penalties, the former was banned from attending PAOK football matches in Greece and Europe, with an appearance at a police station, while the latter was banned from attending only the European matches of the “two-headed team of the North”.
“I had taken two Artans (narcotic pills).but I realized I threw the bottle away. It was my fault. I am attending a rehab program“, said the 29-year-old in his apology.
The 20-year-old Forestry student initially he apologized to his parents “for I have afflicted them these days». Regarding the incident he claimed that “we intended to enter the match without tickets and went to see what was going on. I heard a loud bang and then I threw the bottle. I had no intention of throwing it at the platoon. When I heard the “bang” I was shocked, I didn’t think much of it. Two or three times I have been to the stadium».
According to the police, the two young men in the afternoon of August 22, they threw plastic and glass bottles against police forces outside the stadium, during the football match.
