It was held in Monaco the first and historic draw of the new Champions League!

The top European competition, acquired from the 2024-25 season new formatwill now consist of a single group, with 36 groups to learn all of them 8 opponents who will also face her seat in which they will do it!

The new format of the event

With the new format, the 36 teams of the Champions League will be in a single group and play 8 matches in the league stage (formerly group stage). They will no longer face three opponents twice (home and away) but they will 8 different groupsplaying four matches at home and four away.

The top eight teams of the unified score will automatically advance to the round of 16, while the teams that finish from the 9th to 24th place they will compete in double knockout play-off matches to secure their place in the round of 16 of the competition. The teams that will finish from 25th to 36th place are excludedwithout moving them to the UEFA Europa League.

In the knockout phase, the teams between 9th and 16th place they will face a team that finished between 17th and 24th, with the second leg at home. The eight teams that win the knockout stage play-offs will advance to the Round of 16, where they will each face one of the top eight teamswhich will have already qualified for the round of 16.

From the phase 16 onwardsthe event will continue to follow the existing knockout format, leading to its neutral venue finalchosen by UEFA.
