Azedine was born on April 19, 2000 in Casablanca, Morocco. He started his football journey at the academy of Raha Casablanca at the age of 10, while five years later he moved to the academy of Mohamed VI.
In 2018, he moved to France on behalf of Strasbourg, who included him in their second team. In 2020, he was loaned to Avrans, a French third division team, where he played as a starter throughout the season. In the summer of 2021, Unai’s life changed, as he signed a contract with Angers. He made a dream debut in Ligue 1, scoring against Lyon.
His presence in Angers also brought his call-up to the Moroccan national team. And from there, thanks to his excellent performances with the 2022 World Cup surprise team, starting in every game until the semi-finals, he was transferred to Marseille in January 2023. In Marseille, he scored on his debut, but then struggled to find a key position. Last season he played in the majority of Marseille’s games, reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League (expecting elimination from the Champions League due to Panathinaikos’ stunning presence in the double legs with the French side).
He remains an active member of the Moroccan national team, having 30 appearances and 5 goals.
