THE Panagiotis Angelopoulos initially stated that “we are here to honor Printezis’ contribution to Olympiacos and our own history over the last 15 years at least. For me, Printezis means soul, dedication, hard work and longevity. He had a great career at Olympiakos and we lived great moments. We’ve been through a lot together. I wish him the best and that he stays at Olympiakos forever.”
On his part, Mr George Angelopoulos he said that “we are here to honor one of the greatest athletes in the history of Olympiakos. This basket in 2012 changed the history of Olympiakos. It was the best there was at the time. I went in, I thought it was game over. I wasn’t listening, I was in another state. Since then everything has changed. The history of Olympiakos has changed.
However, it was not the only great moment we experienced with Giorgos. I won’t forget the treble in 2015 with Barcelona when we were all jumping together. This shows that sport is not all about luck. Finally, a very big moment that was not George’s basket but Spanoulis’ three-pointer in OAKA. The moment Vassilis took the ball, Giorgos and I hugged and waited and it happened. George, thank you very much.”
