Obradovic: “Budgets don’t always play a big role in basketball…”

With less than a month to go before the start of her new racing season Euroleague (03/10), the teams of the tournament are slowly entering the preparation period, while putting the final touches on their rosters.

Speaking to “Euronews Serbia”, the coach of Partizan, Zelimir Obradovicreferred to the financial data of the Euroleague, but also pthe teams’ budgets, stressing among other things that the big “wallet” does not guarantee you titles and successes at the highest level.

Zelimir Obradovic’s statements:

“To play in the Euroleague, we have to pay. A good basketball player costs a million or two million euros. Budgets? Budgets don’t always come into play, of course. The teams with the biggest budgets don’t win the EuroLeague. they haven’t, and they won’t,” Obradovic said in an interview with Euronews Serbia. “In that sense, I think Red Star and Partisan can do a lot.

The Euroleague was created in 2000 when there was also a FIBA organization, so in 2001 the Union was created. Not all clubs are created equal. There are founders who make decisions, two others are involved, Bayern and Villeurbanne, and the other five teams that play do not have voting rights, this does not make sense.

However, I have no doubt that both Partizan and Red Star can do a lot.”
