OR Manchester United ended the fiscal year on June 30, 2024 with loss of 134.1 million euros. This is the second biggest loss on the balance sheet for the English club, after €135.5m in 2021/22. In total over the last five years the English club has recorded losses of more than 437 million euros.
“The club remains committed to and in compliance with both the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules and UEFA’s Financial Fair-Play regulations” said Manchester United CEO Omar Berada.
Manchester United’s new financial figures cap a period in which the club finished eighth in the Premier League and bottom of their Champions League group but won the FA Cup.
Manchester United recorded record revenue in the 2023/24 season of €784.3m, up 2% compared to 2023.
Most of it is commercial revenue, TV rights revenue, but it grew by 6% thanks to the participation in the Champions League.
But costs for Manchester United rose faster than revenue, reaching €768.5m in the balance sheet at 30 June 2024, an increase of €87.4m compared to 2022/23. In particular, the cost is due to the increase in personnel costs.
