For his presence in its technical leadership Barcelona during last season, he spoke in an interview given by Roger Grimmow.

The 46-year-old coach spoke about how much the exclusion from Olympiakos cost him in the Euroleague playoffs, stressing that he felt alone and that he became the easy target.

What the Spanish coach said in detail:

On how he felt about last season at Barcelona: “I felt upset the last few months because things didn’t go as well as we would have liked. Summer, however, was therapeutic. It was a very hard mental strain for me, more than when I was a player”.

On whether last season was a failure: “We live in a society where success is only defined by titles and I understand that because it’s about Barcelona. With Olympiakos in the fifth match, we were very good in defense, but not so much in attack. We were missing the icing on the cake at several moments. I became the easy target. These matches made the image that the world has of me bad. It would all be a lot easier if I didn’t have a prior idea of what goes on in a team’s locker room.

The changing rooms have now changed. I must forget what I learned. Basketball today is different on many levels. Players bounce from one team to another and don’t get so attached to one team. My players were professionals to death, with exceptions of course”.

On his relationship with Laporta and Navarro: “Our relationship was good, of course there were moments when we felt anxious. After the elimination from Olympiakos, I felt alone. I wanted to continue but I wasn’t going to go through the process of convincing them.”.
