A resounding message of selfless giving and life through Olympiakos blood donation

Blood donation gives life. An act of love for fellow man. Olympiacos once again showed its contribution to society, carrying out a voluntary blood donation on Saturday morning (14/9) in memory of the victims of Thira 7.

A large number of people attended “G. Karaiskakis”, again sending a resounding message of selfless donation, contributing to the availability of blood. They offered, thus, a gift of inestimable value, which every day saves the lives of our fellow human beings.

The President and CEO of “G. Karaiskakis”, Mr. Vassilis Vassiliadis, said in the context of the blood donation:

“The President of Olympiakos, Vangelis Marinakis, gave me the order, listening to the problem of lack of blood, to increase blood donations to two. So, every semester we donate blood, because blood gives life. I was a blood donor for 45 years, I never needed blood, but I always gave blood for my fellow man. Ten minutes is a lifetime. The Olympiakos crowd always responds with enthusiasm. We do not use the blood bank of Olympiakos, we do not consume it. We give it for the people. That is why our President asked us to carry out two blood drives, to increase blood for the Anti-Cancer Hospital, which is a Hospital of pain and hope”.

The Director of the Piraeus “Metaxa” Cancer Hospital, Mr. Sarandos Efstathopoulos, stated:

“Olympiacos is not just a team from Piraeus. Olympiacos is present in every social need of the city. I especially thank Mr. Vassiliadis for the hospitality at “G. Karaiskakis”, the president of Olympiakos Mr. Marinakis and all the blood donors who flock. We set a new attendance record. Every day, the person concerned can go to the Metaxas Hospital, to the blood donation department. All blood donors who come to the voluntary blood donation of Olympiakos, come without any benefit. They don’t have to wait for anything. They simply come to offer to their fellow man in need of blood.”
