Hundreds of people holding Turkish and Palestinian flags gathered today for the funeral of Turkish-American activist Eisenur Iggy Iggywho was killed during a demonstration in the occupied West Bank.

“Aisenur Ezgi’s blood is as sacred as that of any Palestinian martyr and we will ensure that this case is investigated to the end. As a state, we are fully committed (to this).” We will hold them accountable in all international courts. Yesterday we completed the autopsy according to international standards,” Kurtulmus told reporters, commenting that Ezgi was “martyred” by soldiers of the “terrorist Israeli state” during a “peaceful demonstration.”

“She was directly targeted and shot behind her left ear at close range. May God have mercy on her and may her soul rest in heaven,” he said.

Aigi was killed on September 6 by Israeli fire at a demonstration in Beita, near Nablus.

Israeli authorities admitted that the 26-year-old was “indirectly and unintentionally hit” by Israeli fire.

The US and the UN have called for an investigation into her death, while Ankara will seek international arrest warrants for those responsible for this “targeted killing”.

US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris said on Wednesday that Ezgi’s killing was unacceptable and that Israel should do more to ensure that this does not happen.

Aigi’s body was repatriated yesterday. An autopsy conducted in Izmir found a skull fracture and brain bleeding due to a bullet that entered below the ear, according to TRT.

The woman was initially taken to a clinic with life-threatening head injuries and later died, according to the health ministry in Ramallah.

Prayers in her memory were held in many cities in Turkey, including Istanbul and Ankara.
