Figo’s response to Rodri: “With fewer games, there won’t be such high contracts”

by

In recent years, the matches that football players play season after season have been increasing rapidly. With the new Champions League and her League Phasetwo more matches are added to an already overburdened schedule of footballers.

THE Rodri spoke publicly about a possible strike by the footballers if there were no changes. The Spaniard was also supported by Pierre Coudetstressing that the health of athletes is constantly at risk.

These statements were also spoken by Luis Figo, with the Portuguese saying that if the games are reduced, there should not be such big contracts that the athletes get now.

What Luis Figo said in detail:

“Of course, it’s always a complicated issue. I think that footballers have a contract with an entity, in this case the clubs, and we have to see what is the best solution.

It makes sense that there are more and more games, it is also true that it is like a snowball. The more games, the bigger the contracts and if the games go down I imagine the contracts will go down as well. So, it’s a matter of balance, which is always very difficult to find.”
