Arao: “Let’s become more compact, so that we don’t need balls… thirty meters”

by

THE Arao he spoke ahead of his showdown Panathinaikou with Panserraikos in OAKA and referred to his playing style “clover”, having identified the great need of his team Diego Alonso.

“First of all I should say that there are no weak teams in this league and we saw that, especially when we lost to one of them. So we have to have respect towards all opponents” he first told Cosmote TV and continued:

“What we have to do is to play better and better every time. To be more ready, to have better quality and above all to have calmness, because a goal does not come in the first three or five minutes. Many times it doesn’t even come during the first half. So we need peace and calm, searching the spaces and seeing the weaknesses, but also the strengths of the opponent. We will have to do what we have to do to take advantage of them and be able to win the game.

This is indeed something we need to improve and find ourselves in our positions in the midfield closer. To become more compact so that we don’t have to make thirty meter balls. If you are in the right position even with a ten meter pass, it can bring better results. It’s something we know, it’s something we work on in training and we’ll improve on it.”.

He also spoke with him George Baldockwho of course referred to the strange start to his tenure at Panathinaikos with the injuries:

“I think as a team we need to have possession of the ball even more against these teams. Obviously against these teams we have more of the ball, more circulation, compared to the bigger teams we have faced. So we should not complain, protect the ball, attack and press, have circulation and give confidence to the team.

It is true that I received a slight injury. Unfortunately in the game with the National team against Georgia, I had a difficult injury. I wasn’t 100% ready for that game, but I personally couldn’t lose that match. I had to play this game. I knew the risks and unfortunately found myself in a difficult situation. This happened, I worked really hard to come back and I had a very minor injury. It’s normal after being out for so long to get a little something. Now that’s in the past, I’ve been training for three weeks now, I feel great, I feel ready and I’m waiting for my turn.

I know what I can bring to the team when I get the chance, so I’ll be patient and hope to grab it when I can. As far as being here, I really love it. I always knew my love for the country, how everyone treats my family since I came here, on the street, everywhere. So yes, outside of football everything is perfect, inside football I have a great desire to make a start. It was disappointing, but it’s a thing of the past now.”.
