Marjanovic: ‘Excited about Fener and Jasikevicius – I want to be a role model for the kids’

by

At… the end of the summer transfers, the Fenerbahce dropped the “bomb” with his acquisition Boban Marjanovic, adding quality, experience but also size to the ‘5’ position.

The 36-year-old Serbian giant, who has spent the last 9 years on the NBA floor, stated on the official page of the Turkish club, the his excitement and joy about the transfer to Fenerbahçe. At the same time, he stood in his presence Sarunas Yasikevicius in the team and how much he appreciates him as a coach and previously as a player, while he stated that one of his goals is to inspire and be role model for young children.

Boban Marjanovic’s statements in detail:

“I spoke to my agent first. He is the first in everything. Then I spoke to Marko Gudurić and Bogdan Bogdanović. Now I am here, I am very happy and excited.

Saras Jasikevicius has been tremendous both as a player and as a coach and I have always followed his path. I am very happy and excited to work with Sarounas. Sometimes, coaches and players may not get along, the important thing is to have common ground.

Off the court, what I’m most interested in is making the kids happy. Especially children who are interested in basketball and sports.

When I was little a very famous basketball player came to the camp and we high fived. I didn’t clean my hands for two days, I couldn’t believe it. I said “wow, he gave me my hand”! He did not forget me and made me happy as a child, as if he loved me.

That’s why I love spending time with children. I want to be their idol by sharing my experiences with them. We may not be the same height, position, or even sport, but the important thing is that you can add something to them in a small way.”
