On Friday evening (27/09), the press conference of the Stoiximan Super Cup of Rhodes took place, with Ergin Ataman to talk about the difficulty he has to manage this year o Panathinaikos in staying at the top after last year’s dream season.

MISSION TO RHODES: NIKOS ZERVAS, GIORGOS PETRIDIS

The Turkish coach of the “greens”, mentioned among other things that his players should forget the 2013/14 season, since this year will be even more difficult, while, regarding the “cutting” of foreigners, he stated that during the year it will really be a very difficult and demanding decision for him, while he also thanked Dimitris Giannakopoulos

Ergin Ataman’s statements in detail:

“I hope my players have forgotten about last season, because it is in the past. Be ready for the new one because it will be more difficult. We had a good preparation despite the absences and we have a good and experienced roster. Tomorrow a new season starts and everyone has understood how much we will have to try to stay at the top.”

On how easy it is to pick six strangers and cut some others: “My answer is the same as coach Bartzoka’s. We have injured players and now it is easy to pick the six for the tournament. But then it will really be difficult.”

On the success of last year’s team: “A year has passed since I came to Greece. I saw the passion that Greeks have for basketball and it is a great honor to have this award. I thank my players and partners. But most of all I thank Dimitris Giannakopoulos for the support and all the supplies he gave us. It is very important that for this success we had three Greeks and one was named MVP of the Final Four. It is very important for Greek basketball.”
