E.F.O.E.P.A. as new dates for the General Assembly that would lead to the elections of the Federation, he set November 30 and December 1 for the repeat if necessary.
The decision was taken at an extraordinary meeting of the Board and with 7 votes in favor and 5 against. The relevant announcement explains that several member unions, out of a total of 70 with the right to vote, “presented serious deficiencies in the legalization documents of their representation”.
The purpose of the two-month postponement is “on the one hand, so that the result of the electoral process is not altered and on the other hand, there is no doubt about the legal validity of the representation of the unions and, by extension, the legitimacy of the electoral process”.
Apart from the dates, of course, the list of candidates in the elections, the list of unions with voting rights and the agenda items remain as they are in view of the General Assembly.
In detail, the announcement of the Federation:
“At yesterday’s extraordinary meeting, the Board of Directors of EFOEPA, after intense reflection and in direct cooperation with the legal department, decided to postpone the General Assembly for November 30 (December 1, the repeat if necessary).
This decision was taken by 7 votes in favor and 5 against, with the aim of ensuring the legal representation of a significant percentage of unions with the right to vote, which presented serious deficiencies in the legalization documents of their representation.
The purpose of the postponement is, on the one hand, not to alter the outcome of the electoral process and on the other hand, to ensure that there is no doubt about the legal validity of the representation of the unions and, by extension, the legitimacy of the electoral process.
The Board understands the inconvenience caused and apologizes to all unions for the inconvenience. However, such an important process, as the elections of a federation, must be carried out with the participation of as many associations as possible and without any legal challenge”.
