McKissic on sport-fm.gr: “The Fener fan said things to me that should not be allowed in any stadium”

Olympiacos fought a lot in the “hot” home of Fenerbahce, but in the last quarter they “stuck” offensively and finally bowed harder than the final 82-71, in their premiere in Euroleague.

The leader of the “red and white” in this match was Shaquille McKissick. The American forward put his injury behind him and showed “reborn” on the floor, scoring 13 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists and giving his team significant “breath” Giorgos Bartzokas.

Of course, during the match, the “Shaq Attack” became furious with a fan of hers Lanternwhich is not usual, resulting in a skirmish between them. Finally, the Olympiakos player received a technical penalty, while the friend of the Turkish club was removed from the platform.

All this was talked about by McKissick to the emissary of News Bulletin 247 Nico Zerva. The American referred to the facts that cost her defeatin what the specific fan said to him and made him lose his temper, but also in his own improved competitive personality.

What he said in detail:

On whether the defeat was a bad start for Olympiakos: “It’s not a bad start. This is the Euroleague. We had a lot of “bad starts” last year in the EuroLeague, still we went to the Final Four. We didn’t even have home field advantage in the playoffs and we still did it. It’s a really good lesson for us about what it will take to win. We have a lot of new players and a lot of old ones, it will take time for us all to bond. The coach also needs time to understand his roster. I have been playing for Bartzokas for a long time and I know what he wants, but the others may still want some time.”

For offensive rebounds: “It was a very important possession, where they got 4-5 offensive rebounds and finally made a three-pointer. They also got some lucky ones, that the ball went after the bounce on the Fener players. Even so, we have to fight harder.”

For the incident with the fan: “Maybe my ego came out a little bit on my part. I was out there giving it my all, in the first Euroleague game. This particular fan kept talking bad to me, I tried to let it pass, but what he said to me should not be allowed in any stadium in Europe. Because you see when I talk to a fan, I get a straight technical penalty, which is a funny rule. Especially since the referee was closer to the fan than to me and could hear what he was saying. But it was a lesson for me, for the first time I experienced something like this.”

For his own appearance: “I think this will be my best year because the coach has allowed me to take a step back and figure out what’s going on with my knee. Now he is in his best phase for a long time, I can play much better and I think it will be my best season.”
