Statements shortly before the start of the away match between Panathinaikos and PAOK for the 2nd round of the Stoiximan GBL, made by Dimitris Kontos.
The director of the competition department of the “green” KAE, described the renovated OAKA as an advertisement for Greek basketball, while he also spoke about professional refereeing, stressing that it is a first-class opportunity to change the level of the sport in our country.
In detail what he said:
“Having a good season with health, the next step for us is to stay humble and manage to stay where we are, competitively.
In terms of organization and everything to do with the stadium, all of Europe saw that we have a jewel, it is an advertisement for all of Greek basketball.
The goal is to become even better, to be a point of reference for all European sports and European basketball. People got a first taste of it the day before yesterday, a very big effort is being made by Dimitris Giannakopoulos and all the partners, I think it will be something impressive.
At the organizational level, we have also submitted a proposal for professional arbitration. I think it is the only way for Greece, as basketball is developing, to develop in all areas. It’s a first class opportunity to change the level and get closer to leagues like the Spanish one, to take an example so that we can all become better”.
