Through fire and iron in the quarterfinals of Antwerp, Tsitsipas!

The… forced qualification in his quarterfinals European Open of Antwerp took Thursday night (17/10) o Stefanos Tsitsipaswho struggled mightily against the extremely combative, Thiago Seiboth Wilde, eventually prevailing with 2-1 sets (7-6, 4-6, 7-5).

The Greek tennis player had to 2 hours and 22 minutes to bend the resistance of the 25-year-old Brazilian, world No. 80, thus returning to winning ways after his game against Medvedev in the ’16’ of the Shanghai Masters.

Now, Stefanos is focused on tomorrow’s (18/10) game against Czechos, Jiri Lehetska (No. 33)with the aim of qualifying for the semi-finals of the competition.

The match:

The first set of the match was quite balanced, with the two tennis players maintaining their serve with typical comfort, at the time when both defenses had gone… walk! It is characteristic that throughout the first set there was no break point (!)with ten of the twelve games decided at five points (40-15)! Armed with his excellent serve (9 aces), but also his winners (14), Seiboth Wild managed to fight Stefanos Tsitsipas throughout the service, with the Greek tennis player “talking” in the tiebreak, where with composure and good shots, he won the first set 7-6 (7-5).

The scene was exactly the same in second set with Seiboth Wilde and Stefanos “trading” blows at first six games (3-3). Somewhere there, the 26-year-old Greek tennis player he was broken on his serve (4-3)with the Brazilian, in fact, making it 5-3 afterwards with a love game. Tsitsipas responded with the same “coin” (5-4), however, he was unable to equalize in the breaks and continue the set, which lost by a score of 6-4.

The third set was quite close as well, with Stefanos Tsitsipas having quite a hard time “break” Seyboth Wild’s serve, with the two tennis players going hand in hand until 5-5. In the next game, where Stefanos was serving, he almost got a break, but “saved” it, making it 6-5. With the tiebreak secured, the Greek tennis player pressed his opponent on serve, reaching the coveted break and victory with score 7-5 set.
