He took pole position for the Austin Grand Prix the Lando Norris!
The British McLaren driver was the fastest of the qualifiers with 1:32,330leaving behind him for just 31 milliseconds Max Verstappen (1:32,361) and the Carlos Sainz (1:32.652), who will start from second and third place respectively. Leclerc, Piastri, Russell, Gasli, Alonso, Magnussen and Perez completed the top ten, while Hamilton will start Sunday’s race (22:00) from 19th place.
Proceedings began with Norris fastest in 1:34.029 and Verstappen quickly taking first place from him in 1:33.690, while the Mercedes of Hamilton and Russell moved very slowly. With the fresh set of tyres, Leclerc set the fastest time (1:33.241) while the first round of qualifying ended with Verstappen first and Hamilton 19th out of contention, along with Albon, Colapinto, Bottas and Zou .
Verstappen remained fastest in Q2 as well, clocking 1:32.584, with Sainz and Norris behind him, while Tsunoda, Hulkenberg, Ocon, Stroll and Lawson were the ones who dropped out.
Q3 began with Norris crossing first in 1:32.330, 31 milliseconds faster than Verstappen, who in the closing seconds went to take pole but was unable to complete his effort after Russell spun out and hit the his car in the barriers at turn 19, with qualifying ending with a yellow flag.
