With a very beautiful spectacle, exciting battles and finals that were tense until the last second, the 2nd day of the Jiu Jitsu World Championship, for the Men’s and Women’s categories, was completed.
A day that, like yesterday, hid successes for the Greek team as it managed to reach two more medals and now has five in total.
Second in the world Karzi and Cerve!
In the Women’s Duo, Natalia Karzi and Maria Serve brought the greatest success so far for Greece, in the Men’s – Women’s World Championship. After prevailing against the Belgians Coli and Rapili in the semi-final, in the final they competed against the Italians Paganini and Plumitalo where with a score of 192, against their opponents’ 202, they won the silver medal.
After the award, the two champions said the following: “It was a wonderful experience. We had a strong semi-final as well as the final. Next year… better. It was a very powerful day. We are grateful for those who support us. We feel proud to have come this far. An extra honor to win the medal here in our country. It makes us happy to raise the flag high. Next year let’s hear the anthem too”
Bronze the Mylonas brothers!
However, Angelos and Kostis Mylonas also reached the podium in the Men’s Duo.
They were defeated in a very narrow result by French Dubois and Lebrun (195-191 score) and will not be able to claim the gold. However, they managed to win their second individual medal of the event, after climbing to the third step of the podium!!
“We wanted to do better. We could. We thought we could, but we had some bad luck. Let’s go for gold in the U21 category. Let’s continue the collection. We wanted it here in this (men’s) category as well, but we have the whole future ahead of us.”
Both champions of the -77k reached one breath away from the medal. fighting, Orfeas Mitropias and Panagiotis Kofidis, who reached the semi-finals, where they were defeated and the same happened in their bronze medal match, where Mitropias may feel wronged as he had the lead but lost the match due to penalties.
