Panathinaikos with the foot on the… gas, beat Pylaia in the premiere!

Impressive premiere and… conquest of Pylaia by Panathinaikos! The team of Dimitris Andreopoulos showed its teeth to PAOK and with an amazing appearance, he immediately became the “boss” in the derby, which he got 3-1 set!

The first set started like a real derby, with both teams taking the lead alternately. Panathinaikos, however, found solutions to the pressing that PAOK exerted on the serve and with their protagonists, Gassman, Protopsaltis and Nielsen, found themselves at +5 (13-18). Despite the home team’s attempt to reduce the score, the “greens” managed to make it 1-0 in the sets with 25-21.

The same variation at the start of the second half, with PAOK keeping Panathinaikos away from the three-meter and giving the right to its diagonals and centrals to score, building a four-point difference at the most crucial point (22-18). Panathinaikos failed to find solutions and PAOK made it 1-1 (25-23).

Transformed and determined to win the match Panathinaikos always reacted to PAOK’s attacks, equalizing the match which was balanced for almost the entire duration. At the most crucial turning point, Panathinaikos, with Protopsaltis, Voulkidis and Nielsen, found a lead and despite PAOK equalizing, took the lead again and eventually the set (21-25).

The appearance of the “greens” in the fourth set was deafening since with the… good evening they took the lead, which allowed them to play with a clear mind (5-14). The road now had no turning back and Panathinaikos reached a comfortable victory (14-25) for the final 3-1 in sets.
