Two silver and six bronze medals were added to the already large Greek collection, with the tally now reaching 26 in the event (5 gold, 5 silver, 16 bronze)!
In fact, the two silver ones could have been gold, but at the… limit, the top was lost.
Initially, in the final of the -48k fighting in the U16 category, Alexandra Karavassili lost the final at the last second to the Thai Wamkao with 14-13, while in the U18 women’s duo, the Sidera sisters, lost by just one point in the standings, from the also Thai Kaelong Sisters.
“I am very happy that after this preparation, we managed to come second even though I lost by one point. It’s definitely a strong feeling, winning a medal in your region. I dedicate the medal to my coach who has supported me for 10 years,” said Karavassili after winning her silver medal.
For their part, Alexandra and Maria Sidera emphasized: “Very nice championship and we are satisfied with what we achieved. It’s special to win here and it’s a great joy and emotion to have done it in front of our people. We dedicate it to our family”
Six bronze medals were added to the two silver medals, three of which in U21 (Giannatos in -62k fighting, Lefteris Stathis in -69k fighting and Charalambos Kaklamanos in -77k fighting), two in U18 (Stefanopoulou in -52k fighting and Stambouli/ Vazeou in Duo) and one in U16 (Cello at -57k.)
