KAE Panionios announces that Elias Zouros will be the new coach of the team.

Ilias Zouros was born on March 11, 1966 and his coaching career began in the infrastructure departments of PANIONIO, at a time when the Association was the ultimate example of production.

Coach Zouros made a decisive contribution not only to the “little ones” winning titles, but mainly at a developmental level. Many players competed in the first team of PANIONIO or staffed teams of A1 or National Categories with a consistent course and duration of years!

In 1993, he was on the coaching staff of Peristeri, followed by Ethnikis Piraeus, Paleo Faliro and Sporting and Maroussi (assistant). In 1999 he joined the technical staff of the Greek National Team as a direct partner of Kostas Petropoulos and in the same year he worked as an assistant to Yiannis Ioannidis at Olympiakos.

In the summer of 2000 he took over the technical leadership of Olympiakos where he stayed until the middle of the 2001-2002 season. He worked for the first time abroad, specifically in Lebanon (Sagesse), winning both the championship in the country and the FIBA ​​Asia Champions Cup.

His return to Greece had as his first stop Near East and then Aris and then he worked in France and specifically at Racing Paris.

Panhellenios was his next team and in the two and a half years he worked there, the team was consistently in the top five of the league while reaching the Final Four of the Eurocup in 2010. That season he was named coach of the year in the competition!

In January 2011, he took over the technical leadership of Zalgiris Kaunas leading them to the Euroleague that season while winning three titles (Championship-Lithuanian Cup and Baltic League).

In March 2011, he assumed the technical leadership of the Greek National Team, which he guided to the 2012 Pre-Olympic tournament.

In February 2012 he returned to the Euroleague and specifically to Efes and then made a comeback to Zalgiris Kaunas.

The next stage of his career was Tofas Bursa and in February 2016 he took over the National Team of Georgia which he led twice to the Eurobasket groups (2017-2022) and also to the qualification (for the first time in its history) in Mundobasket (2023) where it reached the round of 16 of the competition.

Peristeri, Prometheus Patras, AEK and Maroussi followed, as well as a return to Lebanon and Sagesse.
