He won the thriller against Peristeri and continued his “climbing” in the championship Mars!
With him David DeJulius performs yet another formidable performance this season, the Thessalonians prevailed with difficulty 77-71 of the Peristeriotes at “Alexandrio” for the 5th matchday of the Stoiximan GBL!
The home team’s American guard finished the game with 27 points and 6/10 three-pointers, keeping his team up at many points in the match! He followed closely Vasilis Toliopoulos (13p., 5as.), who was the one who with his own points in the last minutes “cleaned up” the team’s third consecutive victory.
For Peristeriotes, who fell to 3-2, Kofi and Carberry they had 19 and 18 points respectively.
The match:
With DeJulius scoring his first five points Marsthe Thessalonikians led 5-3 in the first three minutes of the match. The sequel, however, belonged entirely to Dovewho, thanks to his excellent defense, but also the failure of the home team, ran a partial score of 12-2 in the next six minutes (!) in his favor 15-7 at 9′! Toliopoulos and Lazevski attacked the “yellows” in the last minute, with the first period coming to an end with a score of 10-16.
After the poor quality first quarter, the hosts raised their performance dramatically and with eight collected points from De Julius and two from Guizeli, they managed to take the lead with 20-16 in the first two minutes of the second quarter! The Peristerians, with a quick 5-0 run by Stavrakopoulos and Kofi, regained the upper hand in the score (20-21) in the 14th minute, before the amazing De Julius with two collected three-pointers, wrote the 26-24 for Mars! It is characteristic that the American guard of the home team completed it first half with 19 points! Giannis Kastritis’ team continued to be aggressive in the rest of the quarter, even reaching +5 (38-33), with both teams going to the locker room for the break with score at 38-35.
The third quarter had an almost similar development to the first quarter, after Peristeri managed to significantly limit the offensive action of the home team, keeping them just to 10 points! With goals from Kofi and Eddy, as well as a three-pointer from Poulianitis, the guests took the lead 46-40 at 25′while a little later, another three-pointer from Carberry and the shots of Xanthopoulos sent the team of Giorgos Limniatis to +8 (45-53). With DeJulius’ fifth three-pointer in the match at the end of the period, Aris managed to reduce at 48-53 of the quarter.
A basket that seemed to “wake up” the Thessalonians, who entered the fourth and final period completely focused. With five points by Bohorides in the first minute of the quarter, they tied the game (53-53), with DeJulius scoring another three-pointer for the 56-55 at 32′! At that point, Vassilis Toliopoulos came forward for the “yellows” and with big shots sent Aris even at +12 (73-61) at 36′, effectively “clearing” the case of victory, since Peristeri was never able to get back into the match. Somehow, the whole of Kastritis celebrated a great victory with the final 77-71.
The quarters: 10-16, 38-35, 48-53, 77-71.
