The Israeli prime minister was informed early today of a “very violent” and “horrific” incident targeting Israeli citizens in Amsterdam, as announced by Netanyahu’s office.
According to information from the Dutch and Israeli media, after the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv game ended, pro-Palestinian groups ambushed and attacked Maccabi fans outside the stadium.
The clashes caused chaos while the Israeli government reports at least 10 injured and 2 missing. However, other information speaks of 100 injured.
The Jerusalem Post reports that the “manhunt” against Israelis on the streets of Amsterdam continued into the early hours of the morning, despite a heavy Dutch police presence.
Authorities say the situation has calmed down in the last hour and Israelis have been instructed to remain in a sheltered spot. A Dutch police spokesman said 57 had been arrested so far.
