With three wins in four matches, Grigorios Bozinis won the silver medal in +65 kg at the European Taekwondo Championship for boys and girls, while Philippos Kordas, with exactly the same score, took third place in -45 kg.

Greece completed its presence in the event with a total of three medals, including the gold won by Elektra Tsouprou on Friday at -33 kg.

Bozinis entered as No-2 on the board at +65 kg and, just like that… he came out! By winning the silver medal in a category where a total of 22 athletes participated. In the round of “16” he defeated 2-0 (12-0, 12-0) the Russian (he competed under the World Taekwondo flag) Shabunia Zakhar, while he “entered” the medals after the 2-0 victory (10-10, 6-5) over Moldova’s Bucico Dumitru.

The Greek champion, a member of the National team established by the Hellenic Taekwondo Federation, emerged victorious from the exciting semi-final against the Italian Antonacci Vito with a score of 2-1 (6-3, 4-5, 13-12), but in the match for the gold medal was defeated by the No-1 of the board, the Latvian Tsybulia Eduards with a score of 2-0 (9-5, 14-8).

Kordas, also a member of the National team, climbed to the third step of the winner’s podium in the -45 kg category (28 athletes), starting his competitive duties from the round of “32”. There, he defeated the Armenian Davtyan Rafik 2-0 (13-1, 12-0), while in the round of 16 he prevailed 2-0 (16-14, 16-12) against the Ukrainian Trachuk Oleksandr.

In the quarter-finals, he overcame the Turkish Korpe Yunus ali with a score of 2-0 (9-7, 14-2), but was out of the final after losing 2-0 (13-12, 7-7) to the Russian (competed under the WT flag) Zamaikhanov Kairsultan.

With the medals of Bozini and Korda, Greece reached 63 medals in the history of the event since 2005, ten of which were gold.
