OlympicNottingham, Rio Ave and maybe… Vasco da Gama. O Globo in Brazil talks about advanced contacts of Vangelis Marinakis for the purchase of the shares of the historic team from Rio de Janeiro.
“Vasco is advancing negotiations with the Greek billionaire Evangelos Marinakis for the sale of its majority stake. The two sides are exchanging information for the club to join the network that Nottingham Forest belongs to. Marinakis, owner of the English team, Olympiakos in Greece and Rio Ave in Portugal, wants to expand his network to other markets, including Brazil“, the publication states.
“There are Brazilian businessmen with access to these foreign clubs who mediate between Marinaki’s group and Vasco. Edouard, who stepped down as Arsenal’s sporting director, appears to be involved in the discussions. Recently, the Marinaki group hired Brazilian executive director Edu Gaspar, who used to work at Arsenal. After the first exploratory contacts regarding the possibility of investing in Vasco da Gama, the negotiations moved into a new phase. The two sides are now talking more frequently, and Marinakis and his group are examining the financial situation of Vasco, in order to clarify and understand from all sides the amount of investment required to acquire the company’s shares “777 Partners”».
In Vasco da Gama, they state that there are also negotiations with other prospective buyers for the sale of the shares, estimating that this process will be completed by the beginning of 2025.
