The National men’s and women’s teams return to the European Volleyball League from next summer. The decision of the management of EOPE is an important step for the strengthening of Greece’s presence on the European stage and implements a personal commitment of the president, Giorgos Karabetsos.
The two representative groups will compete for the first time in the Golden League, as after improving their position they are in the top 12 of European countries.
The last participation of both bands was in 2019 at the Silver European, while in 2020 the participations were withdrawn due to the cancellation of the event after the pandemic.
This participation has a double objective. On the one hand, the gathering of valuable points for the European and world ranking that will strengthen Greece’s position on the international stage and on the other hand the preparation of the National teams for next year’s competitions.
In particular, the Women’s National Team will have the opportunity to properly prepare for the World Championship to be held at the end of August 2025 in Thailand, but also for the European Women’s 2026 qualifiers at the beginning of August of the year.
The men’s national team will present itself even better in the last part of the Eurovolley 2026 qualifiers.
