OR Euroleague decided that the 2025 Final 4 will be held in Abu Dhabi overturning the data of the last days that brought the conclusion of the event in Belgrade.
At today’s General Assembly of the EuroLeague Basketball shareholder teams it was decided with vote 11-2 to be hosted in the Arab country on May 4 Final. According to information, the groups that voted against were o Olympic and the Real Madrid. Thus, for the first time in history, the Final 4 will take place outside of Europe, in a decision that may be a harbinger of Dubai BC’s gradual entry into the Euroleague (it already participates in the Adriatic League and will probably be in the Eurocup next season).
They played a big role in the decision to make the Final 4 in Dubai the money of the IMG companywhich has reportedly almost doubled the financial lure to the Euroleague, while it has expressed interest in hosting the final phase of the competition at least twice more until 2030! But, as it is said, the risk of incidents in Belgrade from… explosive possible fan coexistence Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, Partizan, Red Star or other teams with a large popular base, also worked towards making the 2025 games in Abu Dhabi.
The Etihad Arena, which is expected to host the Final 4, inaugurated in 2021 and has a capacity of 18,000 spectators. For the last three years it has hosted NBA friendlieswhile the National basketball team had faced there in August 2023, before the World Cup in the Philippines, USA and Germany.
It has also hosted major boxing matches, UFC, the 2021 World Swimming Championships in a 25-meter pool, as well as major concerts.
