The electric Ford Puma Gen-E ensures a range of up to 376 km (combined cycle – WLTP) on a full charge. Its battery can be charged from 10% to 80% capacity in about 23 minutes on a 100kW DC fast charger.
Ford today revealed the Puma Gen-E, the new and latest member of its all-electric vehicle range, introducing the zero-emissions concept to the company’s best-selling model in Europe for the first time.
The electric Puma Gen-E gives a new dimension to the concept of driving pleasure and further evolves the distinctive Puma exterior design, which has played a key role in the success of the compact crossover on the Old Continent.
The drive that elevates the Puma’s driving character is provided by an all-new electric motor, which also ensures an impressive efficiency of just 13.1 kWh/100 km. The new Puma Gen-E can travel up to 376 kilometers on a full charge of its battery, so long journeys are possible. In the city, the range reaches 523 km, which means that recharging will not be needed for several days as part of the customers’ urban movements.
Using a fast charger, charging from 10% to 80% takes around 23 minutes, while seamless acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h in 8.0 seconds and faster steering response offer features reminiscent of the Puma ST, but in electrical form.
For the busy city dweller or a new family, the Puma Gen-E makes even more use of available space, thanks to its compact powertrain. Thus, the already innovative MegaBox storage space in Puma’s trunk has been transformed into a GigaBox, ensuring a total luggage carrying capacity of up to 574 liters in a 5-seater configuration (loaded to the roof) – that’s more than they are able to offer today larger SUVs. At the front, a frunk with a capacity of 43 liters makes ideal use of the space that would be occupied by the petrol engine, making it ideal for storing accessories, which are accessible even when the rear luggage compartment is full.
“Puma is a success story and at the same time a car loved for its sporty design and driving characteristics, combined with unique practicality and class-leading luggage space,” said Jon Williams, general manager, Ford Blue and Model e Europe. “The Puma Gen-E is the best Puma we’ve ever had, offering the most fun driving experience, combined with an incredibly efficient electric powertrain. And the new, even larger GigaBox offers unparalleled luggage capacity.”
The exterior design of the new Puma Gen-E captures the spirit of the latest generation of the model with touches that make it more distinctive and aerodynamic. A bold ‘shield’ design replaces the conventional grille at the front, creating a fresh face inspired by the electric Ford Mustang Mach-E. The sporty rear spoiler and unique alloy wheel designs enhance the electric aura and feel and contribute to the better aerodynamic performance of the new Puma Ge-E.
Digital experience for those who are always connected
Inside the car, the clean and modern design philosophy continues, with two high-definition screens located close to the driver, so that the latter is always in control. Ford’s latest-generation SYNC 4 infotainment features a cloud-connected navigation system for the Puma Gen-E to move comfortably around town, while at the same time, thanks to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, apps and information are synchronized between passengers’ smartphones and the car without the use of cables Alexa Built-in enables drivers to use voice commands to find out their favorite restaurant’s opening hours or to add items to their to-do list their shopping.
The vehicle’s new, elevated center console offers a practical storage space, suitable for transporting personal items in an orderly manner. The armrest is sliding to ensure the driver of the new Puma Gen-E the most comfortable position during a long journey. Wireless phone charging is also available, so it’s always charged at the end of the trip.
The new Ford Puma Gen-E makes driving in and out of town even easier. An easy-to-use electronic paddle shifter located behind the steering wheel switches between forward, neutral and reverse as easily as turning on the turn signals with your fingertips. The possibility of driving with one pedal (one-pedal driving) makes driving in the city even more comfortable, regardless of the driving profile (four in total) chosen by the driver.
Available Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Centring driver assistance systems ensure a smoother and more natural feel during acceleration and braking, and can use Predictive Speed Assist to adjust cruising speed on winding roads. In the city, the also available surround-view 360° camera can project a panoramic image of the vehicle from above, which is able to facilitate maneuvering in awkward multi-storey car parks.
The optional Dynamic Matrix LED headlamps use Predictive Dynamic Bending Light to monitor the road ahead and illuminate more where necessary. This technology also adjusts the light beam pattern to provide better visibility on urban routes or dark expressways.
The Puma Gen-E is built at Ford’s state-of-the-art Otosan Vehicle Assembly Plant in Craiova, Romania, using advanced power units produced at Ford’s Halewood, U.S. facility. Basilio.
Marking another important step in the further expansion and development of Ford’s all-electric model range, the new Puma Gen-E is available to order from today, with deliveries scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2025.
