Garcia: “We don’t need to go crazy, the team is working well”

Atromitos took an early lead, but eventually lost 2-1 to Panathinaikos, in the first meeting between the two teams for the round of 16 of the Betsson Greek Cup.

After the end of the match in Peristeri, the coach of the home team, Pablo Garciaemphasized that his team will learn from this game in order to perform better in the second leg, while stressing the need for continuous improvement.

In detail what the coach of Atromitos said:



“It was a difficult game. The team started well. We knew we would have to close down the spaces in the center and be compact. Unfortunately we conceded a goal at the end of the half which changed the second half. We fought, we had a chance to equalize at the end of the match. In the end we lost. We will learn from this game to be ready for the rematch.”

“I’m happy with everyone who played today. And with Dimitris and “Kara”. Because they are too young. Dimitris was also good with OFI who scored. They are always available to the coach and I am happy for their effort. I congratulate them on the occasion. I am happy with the fact that van Weert is scoring. He always works well and with a smile and let him not always play. It’s good that he scored today, because he needs the goals and that will help him in the next game as well.”.

For his changes: “We have a game on Saturday against Aris, who will have an extra day of rest. We have players who are working well and we wanted to give them a chance. We have 23-24 players and whoever is better will play”.

On the defensive function of his team and whether the goals conceded are problematic: “Certainly. We analyze all this and work on it. But we don’t need to go crazy. The team works well. Sometimes some experience details are missing. At some point this will stop. We were playing against a difficult opponent, but with all these opponents the team showed an excellent face. We have to continue like this and improve”.
