Alexandros Madesis and Chrissi Fotiadou prevailed in the last qualification matches in singles and won the particularly honorable seventh place in the international open table tennis of Finland.
In the matches, which took place simultaneously and on adjacent TV tables, the former prevailed in five sets with a mini upset from 1-2, while Fotiadou completely played her game in three sets.
In an established Open with a large participation and a good level of competition, the total of five internationals gave us many and useful tests and achieved high placings.
We remind you that Malamatenia Papadimitriou came 11th in the women’s singles, while on the first day Stathis Manolopoulos and Madesis finished in positions 9-16 in the Under 21 age group.
Without counting some no-matches, Madesis played 15 matches in Finland, Manolopoulos 12, Kosmas 11, Fotiadou 10 and Papadimitriou 9 and this is very essential in a tournament that included only one match.
In the men’s singles and the match for places 7-8, Madesis defeated the Latvian Daniel Kogans 3-2 sets (12-10, 9-11, 4-11, 11-7, 11-5) on Sunday.
In the corresponding match for the women’s singles, Fotiadou defeated the Dutchwoman Dorbila Giorguseska with 3-0 sets (11-6, 11-8, 11-8).
