Penny Roga emerged victorious from the biggest fight of her life, as she did not let cancer bend her!
The Panathinaikos volleyball player was diagnosed a few months ago, announcing today on her personal Instagram account that she emerged victorious from the battle!
At the same time, she also gave her own message against chronic disease, while also mentioning the importance of prevention.
In detail what he wrote:
“I’m a little late but now is the right time to say what I want, what I felt, what I experienced during these most important, most difficult, most demanding months of my life. Words cannot convey reality even to 10%, but they may help some, even a few, to see life with a different eye. This will also be a profit.
I thought that in my life I had gone through difficult times, I had made difficult decisions, I had problems like all of us but in the end I had not experienced anything. Just think “one day you are playing in a cup semi-final and the next day you are told that you have cancer”. CANCER… a word with many meanings… I had to “mention” it in my life only as my sign…
In the year 2024, the word CANCER is still a taboo for the majority of the population, let alone all those who come face to face. We want to think we’re progressive but in reality we’re just a bunch of conservative, phobic partisans.
I was never ashamed of my illness, I never felt bad about the hair I lost, the weight I put on, the huge change in my body, only proud that I didn’t surrender my weapons and threw myself into the battle with all my might. None of us know how much power is hidden within us until the moment comes to test its limits. These months were not easy, there were days when I gave up, when I thought I couldn’t take it anymore, when I said I wouldn’t make it, but I always had by my side those who should, those who believed in me more than I did.
Of course, no one can understand what a cancer patient goes through unless they experience it.
Prevention saves lives. Most cancers are preventable through early diagnosis and treatment.
Now I wink at life and smile for real. I gave another fight not on the floor but in life, in real life and I came out champion again!
WE WON”.
