Eleftheriadou and Platanioti nominated for the Europe’s top awards

Two Greek athletes are included in the nominations of European Aquatics for the awards of the leaders of aquatics for the year 2024. Nicole Eleftheriadouwho retired from active action after the Olympic Games, is among the top five candidates for the best pole woman of “Giraia Epirus”together with the Spanish Bea Ortiz, the Hungarian Rita Kesteli and the Dutch Sabrina van der Sloot and Simone van de Kraats.

There is also a Greek presence in the top five candidates in artistic swimmingwith the world champion Evangelia Plataniotis to claim the prize, along with Vasiliki Alexandra (Greek, but representing Austria), German Clara Bleger and the duets of Kate Shortman/Isabelle Thorpe (Great Britain) and the brothers Bregier and Noortje De Brouwer (Netherlands).

His title best polo player in Europes for 2024 are claimed by the Spaniard Alvaro Granada, the Serbian Dusan Madic, the Croatians Loren Fatovic and Marko Bijac and the Hungarian Soma Vogel. In this category, any result other than a landslide victory for Madic will be considered a colossal surprise. The same applies to men’s swimming with the French four-time Olympic champion Leon Marchand, who has as co-candidates the Irishman Daniel Whiffen, the Romanian David Popovici, the Hungarian Christoph Milak and the Italian Thomas Ceccon. There is also an absolute favorite among the women and it is the Swedish Sara Siestrem, with rivals the Israeli Anastasia Gorbenko, the French Anastasia Kirpichnikova, the German Isabel Gose and the Dutch Tess Souten.

In diving, the candidates for the men are the French Gilles Bouguet, the Italian Matteo Santoro, the British Noah Williams and Tom Daley and the Ukrainian Oleksiy Sereda, while for the women the Spanish Ana Carvajal, the Italian Chiara Pelacani and the British Andrea Spadolini-Sierreix, Lois Toulson and Scarlett Mew Jensen. For open sea swimming, the men’s prize is claimed by the Hungarians David Betlehem and Krzysztof Rasovsky, the Italian Domenico Atcerenza, the French Marc-Antoine Olivier and the German Oliver Clemet, while the women’s candidates are the Italians Barbara Pozzobon and Ginevra Tadeucci, German Leonie Beck, the Spanish Marie de Valdes and the Dutch Sharon Van Ruwendaal. In the men’s artistic swimming, the candidates are the Spanish Denis Gonzalez, the Italians Filippo Pelati and Giorgio Minisini, the German Frithof Seidel and the British Ranjuo Tomblin. Finally, there will also be awards for high diving, with candidates Aiden Heslop (Britain), Carlos Jimeno (Spain), Catalin-Petru Preda (Romania), Constantin Popovici (Romania) and Gary Hunt (France) ) and candidates Anna Bander (Germany), Elisa Cosetti (Italy), Ginny Fan Katwijk (Netherlands), Madeleine Bayonne (France) and Morgan Herculano (Switzerland).

European Aquatics is conducting an open vote for the public until 31 December via its official website (https://www.len.eu/awards-2024/), which will shape the result at a rate of 30%. The remaining 70% will result from the votes of the member countries and the EA technical committee.
